Proofreading

Light Copyediting

Moderate Copyediting

The proofreading package is for content that needs a second pair of eyes to check it for errors before it’s published.

This is light editing that refines your text for your audience while maintaining your unique voice.

The goal is to correct errors, not change your text. This is the last stage in the editing process before your content is published.

Your text will be checked for:

  • Spelling errors
  • Typos
  • Formatting
  • Word use
  • Basic grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Capitalization
  • Accuracy of obvious facts
  • Compliance with applicable style guide(s).
Includes one revision.

The light copyediting package is for content that needs an edit that goes below the surface.

This is a deeper edit that ensures your text is not only error-free, but also factual and easy to read.

The goal is still to maintain your unique voice, but it may be necessary to change or reword sentences for the sake of clarity.

Your text will be checked for everything included in the proofreading package, as well as:

  • Accuracy of facts
  • Word choice
  • Consistent style
  • Potential issues
  • Trademark use
  • Use of copyrighted material
  • Reword sentences to correct grammar and syntax
  • Foreign words and idioms
  • Flag inconsistencies between chapters
  • Flag plot holes
Includes one revision.

The moderate copyediting package is for content that needs more work than is included in the light copyediting package.

Your text will be checked for everything included in the previous packages, as well as:

  • Flagged for confirmed anachronisms
  • Flagged for repetition
  • Flagged for jargon with obscure meanings
  • Flagged for awkward phrasing
  • Flagged for ambiguous vocabulary
Includes up to two revisions.
